ARA PACIS Lungotevere in Augusta.
ARA PACIS - Until 14 Sep: Jean Prouvé. The poetics of the technical object Jean Prouvé, artisan, entrepreneur, designer, engineer and architect and the man who most influenced the development of design. The 100 or so pieces by Jean Prouvé on show here are on loan from the Vitra Design Museum, the Centre Pompidou and private collections and all privilege function over aesthetics. Visitors can admire design pieces - such as chairs, sofas, tables, desks, school benches, beds and lamps - and also architectural pieces, draft sketches and prototypes. This is a dense retrospective dedicated to a designer who transformed prefabricated panels and aluminium cladding into something poetic. Tue-sun h9-19. €6,50, reduced €4,50

This major exhibition looks at one of the most important divinities in Greek mythology. Even though shrouded in fog and lacking a rich narrative Eros is the force that sweeps and overwhelms us, as Sappho would say, and to whom even the Gods succumb. This is about sex experienced freely, quite simply it is the energy that gives value and meaning to pederast relations and weddings, which constitute real institutions and fundamental social dynamics, as well as the necessary elements for the balanced development and cultural training of every individual. Until 24 Mar: Trastevere.Society and urban transformation from the 1800s to the present day
The 1000-year-old Roman neighbourhood of Trastevere has gone through difficult historic and social events and has always had a very strong sense of identity. Such as the restoration and renovation work carried out on the churches of Santa Cecilia and Santa Maria in the 19th century, the construction of river-containing walls and the creation of many cultural institutions. This exhibition does justice to the vitality and spirit of Trastevere, it tells us the different phases of the neighbourhood’s existence and explores some of the famous personalities who were raised here, such as Rino Gaetano, Francesco De Gregori and Antonello Venditti. VILLA TORLONIA REOPENS
One of the most beautiful villas in Rome and the last example of Roman cultural patronage - Villa Torlonia - has undergone major restoration. The gardens have been restored to their 17th century splendour with the addition of trees, shrubs, vases and a gazebo. The lake and hill in the grounds have been recreated and the paths have been rebuilt and adorned with statues and lamps. Architecturally too some major changes have been made to the villa. The Casino also hosts a permanent exhibition of "The Roman School" featuring 150 works by artists who lived and worked during the two world wars.

Until 9 Nov: Gay Village 2006 - Orientati Rome boasts the only "gay village" in the world. This summer the initiative will take on an oriental flavour, style and atmosphere and feature the presence of international guests as well as hosting regular events such as theatre avant-premières, film screenings every Thursday in an initiative called Night and Gay, and the screening of cult TV series "Jimmy World" on Sundays. To close the event a Madonna week will be held that is timed to coincide with her concert on 6th August, It will feature live concerts and DJ-sets dedicated to the material girl.
